Role: Project Director

Location: Prague, Czech Republic

Career History:
I joined Bovis Lend Lease in August 1992 and until 1998 worked as a Construction and Project Manager. Afterwards I became Area Manager for the Prague region. I’ve been a Project Director for the past 5 years.

Before joining Bovis Lend Lease I gained my degree in Civil Engineering and then joined a local construction company Montovane Stavby, undertaking preconstruction and business development activities.

I have undertaken postgraduate study in construction law. Since 2006 I have acted as the Bovis Lend Lease representative for QES (certification of compliance to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards).

Why did you decide to join Bovis Lend Lease?
I was looking for a challenging job which would fully use my capacity and capabilities. I prefer to be occasionally overloaded rather than having too little to do.

What does your job involve?
I am responsible for the management and supervision of the projects which includes: undertaking negotiations with the clients, leading a team of Project Managers, interviewing new staff, leading on internal training, giving external presentations of the company to potential clients and dealing with proposals and contracts. A typical day will involve attending meetings, going on site visits and delivering presentations.

Can you give an example of a project you have worked on recently?
Forum Liberec is a mixed use retail complex in a city centre approximately 100km from Prague. The complex will cover over 75,000 sqm and will house a shopping mall with a food court, leisure area, hypermarkets and underground car park. The centre will be opened in two phases (October 2008 and March 2010). Bovis Lend Lease are providing the construction management services and the project has a construction value of € 57 million.

What are the best things about working for Bovis Lend Lease?
The most valuable thing for me are the friendly relationships we have built and maintained within this area from the earliest stage of the company’s existence in the Czech Republic.

How would you describe Bovis Lend Lease’s culture?
Bovis Lend Lease is a reputable company, a leader in the worldwide construction market. The company focuses on providing effective professional services to clients with long-term plans.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?
My hobbies are playing tennis, downhill skiing and cycling. I like to work in the garden when I have the time. I would recommend to anyone who likes adrenalin sports to do a parachute jump or speed driving on a race track, which I’d like to repeat in future.
