Sugar Dock Celebrates Major Milestone
The $150 million Sugar Dock apartment building at Jacksons Landing in Pyrmont, Sydney, reached a significant milestone earlier this month. A traditional ‘topping off’ ceremony was held, with a tree lifted by crane and placed on the top of the building to show appreciation to all the workers that have made Sugar Dock a reality.
Jacksons Landing is a Joint Venture Development between Vivas Lend Lease, Kerry Properties and Government of Singapore Investment Corporation.
Bovis Lend Lease is responsible for the design and construction of Sugar Dock, including the fitting out of apartments. The company is also responsible for the construction of all other residential buildings within Jacksons Landing including the most recently completed Stonecutters and evolve.
Sugar Dock is over 65 per cent sold, with only 43 of the two and three-bedroom apartments remaining. In total, it will comprise 132 two and three-bedroom apartments and skyhomes in a 20-storey tower, which will sit atop a low-rise podium containing 14 two-bedroom terrace-style boutique apartments.
To date, Bovis Lend Lease has successfully recycled 84 per cent of construction waste during the project. Additionally, the building features rainwater harvesting tanks that collect water for topping up pools and watering gardens.
Completion of the building is scheduled later this year.
Sugar Dock is situated opposite the Sydney foreshore and one hectare of parkland. Views from the development stretch 180-degrees from Anzac Bridge to the Sydney Harbour Bridge with almost all of the apartments orientated to the north-east to gain the attractive views over the harbour and the parkland to the city.
Covering 11.7 hectares, Jacksons Landing is one of Australia’s largest and most successful waterfront redevelopments. It is currently around 75 per cent completed having sold 1,160 dwellings and comprising some 2,400 residents. When finalised around 2012, Jacksons Landing will comprise 1,350 apartments, terraces, heritage warehouse conversions and town-homes.
